Finding a deep scratch along the side of your car is frustrating at the best of times. It is even more upsetting when the damage appears to have been caused deliberately.
This impressive blue Range Rover recently arrived at Spraywise with a long vandal scratch running across the side of the vehicle. The customer was understandably unhappy, particularly as the damage was through no fault of their own.
Rick carefully repaired the affected paintwork and restored the vehicle to a clean, professional finish. The completed repair left the Range Rover looking smart again, with the damaged area blending naturally into the surrounding bodywork.
The scratch extended across the side of the vehicle and was clearly visible against the deep blue paintwork. Long scratches like this can affect more than one panel, which makes accurate preparation and colour matching particularly important.
The damage included:
Although some light surface marks can occasionally be improved through polishing, deeper scratches usually need a more complete cosmetic repair. This helps restore the colour, gloss and protection of the affected paintwork.

Rick assessed the full length of the damage before deciding on the most suitable repair process. With a scratch covering a large section of the vehicle, careful preparation was needed to create a smooth and consistent finish.
The repair process included:
Deep blue paintwork can highlight even small differences in colour or finish. Accurate colour matching and careful application were therefore essential to make sure the repair looked right from different angles and in changing light.
Once the repair was completed, the long scratches were no longer visible and the side of the Range Rover had been restored to a smooth, glossy finish.
The vehicle left the Spraywise workshop looking great again, with the affected panels blending neatly into the rest of the bodywork.
This repair is another example of how professional cosmetic bodywork can restore damage without automatically replacing complete doors or panels.
Vandal scratches can range from light surface marks to deep lines that cut through the paint and expose the layers underneath. Leaving deeper damage untreated can allow moisture to reach the panel, which may eventually lead to further deterioration.
